Spend a Day at the Festival Accompanied by an Artist from Berlin’s Independent Performing Arts Community

Members of Berlin’s independent performing arts community become guides during the festival who select their very own personal highlights from the broad array of festival programming and invite audience members to set off with them on a journey of discovery throughout the festival. Tours will include an average of three productions. In addition, audience members have the opportunity to talk about and discuss what they have seen and Berlin’s independent performing arts community within the group. A variety of artists invites audience members to participate in a total of 13 tours throughout the week of the festival.

Admission to the various performances is included in the ticket price of the tours. The travel between the performance venues will be conducted on public transportation. Public transportation tickets are not included in the price.

Tour 10: SEX SELLS

We will visit three formats that deal with the public presentation of gender and (female) bodies from three very different perspectives.

First of all, strategies for making an intersex identity visible will be explored in mixed me - EinMenschShow. After this, Mira Fuchs will explore performative intimacy by sharing the fragmented memories of a stripper’s body with us. Finally, we will get ourselves all soaped up while sitting in a car in Car Wash while we experience a moment of eroticism that rises above the stereotypical images of women’s bodies and cars.

Anna K. Becker is a freelance designer and dramaturg and studied applied theater studies in Gießen. Since 2004, she and Katharina Bischoff have formed the directorial team bigNOTWENDIGKEIT, which realizes international theater projects, performances and installations. In Berlin, she has worked at Sophiensæle, Theaterdiscounter, the Roter Salon at Volksbühne and at Autokino Berlin.

TATWERK | PERFORMATIVE FORSCHUNG is a production centre and studio for the performing arts in Berlin. The artistic research focus in physical theatre, dance and performance with a particular attention to interdisciplinary projects.
TATWERK is a crossing point for artists who chose the body as material and the research as a tool for their work. Our work consists in offering an artisic exchange platform for ideas, artistic practices and projects.
Our main interest concentrates on multidisciplinary, political and poetic projects in the field of the performing arts. We are particulalry interested in the research of thematic and aestheitc tension fields beween different artistic, social and scientific disciplines. The resulting program consisting o classes, workshops and performance projects is completed by events ans festivals where chosen artists present their work in form of previews, work in progress or ready productions.
Furthermore we offer support in technical questions, in the production and PR. We open our network and activate new, unexpected connections.
