Symposium: Loving the Countryside – Theater in Regional Contexts (Performing Arts Programm Berlin)

A symposium offered by PAP – the Berlin Performing Arts Program

A desire and curiosity for the countryside, the abandonment of cities and urban centers, new encounters with human beings and nature and are characteristic notions of "good" living and working. At the same time, mobility and nomadism are frequently the expression of hybrid, global cultures that have exponentially grown with the advent of the Internet. More and more often, work within the performing arts is conceived for non-theater locations and the people who use them, developed site-specifically or cast with everyday experts.

In the symposium “Loving the Countryside – Theater in Regional Contexts”, projects, strategies and visions of theater makers and artists will be presented that work in regional contexts. An urban picnic with short presentations in which these special artistic processes will be analyzed and brought into relation with each other.

The symposia during the 2017 festival are offered by the Berlin Performing Arts Program.
The LAFT Berlin Performing Arts Program is intended for all independent theater and dance makers in Berlin. We work in four areas to professionalize the independent performing arts, strengthen their infrastructural support and increase their visibility. All offers of the program are free of charge and are specifically oriented to the circumstances and needs of the members of the community.

The Performing Arts Program is supported by the State of Berlin - Senate Department for Culture and Europe from funds of the European Fund for Regional Development (EFRE) within the program "Promoting the Innovation Potential in Culture II (INP II)" and the European Social Fund (ESF) within the program "Qualification in the Culture Industry (KuWiQ)".
