Lacuna (Marcozzi Contemporary Theater)

“The secret service exists to act in an illicit way [...] legitimized by the constitution, but in an illegal way, otherwise there would be no reason for them to exist.“

Francesco Cossiga (Italian prime minister, president of the Republic, from 1974 to 1992, life senator). Lacuna is a solo physical-theater performance that deals with the meaning of “state secrecy” and the modality with which the government maintains it with fantapolitical/fantascientifical eyes. The performance is inspired by the bombing of the Bologna train station on the 2nd of August 1980, on which the Italian government still maintains the state secrecy. A common strategy that states often chose to avoid the intervention of the magistrature is to keep the real documents and information secret. Where does the state keep those information? On an encrypted pc? In a strongroom? In the body of a person?

“The fact that every year the Bolognese and other people insult me in the squares of Bologna is a ritual and I believe that is their right to do so.” F. Cossiga.
