Affinity (Theater o.N., Alfred Zinola)
For the opening event of FRATZ International and Berlin Showcase 2017, choreographer and director Alfredo Zinola and the Theater o.N. Ensemble develope a new production together. "Affinity" means appeal, and that's the subject in the staging: In an open space, the performers build little islands and make contact with the audience using their voices. Can we touch each other using the voice instead of the body? Which sounds can reach the audience? A lullaby can soothe a child; a deep sound can command attention. In "Affinity", we evoke different states of mind and body and play with closeness and distance: So close as if my head were in someone's lap and I could hear sounds; and as far away as if we would have to yell at each other across 3 flights of stairs.

Theater o.N. is an almost 40-year old association of artists and managers. Founded in 1979 / 80, it was the first independent theater in the former GDR. Then known as Zinnober the group developed groundbreaking productions like “traumhaft” (1985) and “Die Bremer Stadtmusikanten” (1986). Nowadays the theatre is focusing on two core areas: in the field of theater for children and young people they are exploring and furthering the still emerging genre of theater for audiences 2 years and up. Since 2013 the company present biannual the Festival FRATZ International. The other focus is to create theater with children and young people in culturally disadvantaged areas. In their program for adults, the company is using the methods of biographical theater and puppet theater.
