wound - or the wounds of a butterfly … (cie. toula limnaios)

Wounds speak from the waking and the dreaming.The piece follows a chimerical unfolding between dream and trauma. Zones of the formless and the fragmented, in which the suppressed and vanished from the consciousness accumulates and wallows. The familiar slips away and a still firm structure wavers and breaks; that way the reality itself acquires dreamlike and poignant traits. All that is absurd becomes likely. Like sleepwalkers on the stage, the performers accompanied by cyan's video images, together lead the dance into a state of fragility. „wound“ explores the fracture of human vulnerability and its pain.
„wound“ is the first of in total 8 re-run pieces presented on the occasion of the festival „20 Years of cie. toula limnaios“ and the reopening of the HALLE TANZBÜHNE BERLIN.

The cie. toula limnaios was founded in 1996 by the choreographer Toula Limnaios and the composer Ralf R. Ollertz. Thanks to the lean, but highly effective structure and international co-productions, the company, which has been institutionally supported since 2014, continuously ensures the high quality of its ensemble work and belongs nowadays to one of the most successful dance companies in Germany. They tour worldwide as a German Dance Ambassador of the Goethe Institute and the Federal Foreign Office. The HALLE TANZBÜHNE BERLIN is the production and performance venue of the cie. toula limnaios and its guests. In 2000, choreographer Toula Limnaios and composer Ralf R. Ollertz established a rehearsal space of their own in the protected historical building, which has since also become a workplace for a large number of other artists. In 2003, the HALLE TANZBÜHNE BERLIN became a self- financed theater and has since established an international reputation for itself as an important venue for contemporary dance. The HALLE is a partner of Tanz im August and co-produces with Mousonturm Frankfurt/M, Musiktheater Baltoppen, the International Dance Festival Athens and the Bregenzer Festspiele.
