Five Dancers (Once We Were Islands)

Partizipative Performance-Installation

Five Dancers is a participative performance installation for five audience members. It uses, as its raw material, those moments between words, between a question and an answer, between knowing and not-knowing. It asks us to look closely, not just with our eyes, but with our bodies. We follow a choreography of gestures, blinks, smiles, exhalations. We find ourselves immersed in a landscape of sound and light that takes the interior as its reference point. By moving how the dancers move, can we feel how the dancers feel? Five Dancers is an attempt to discover what arises when we focus on the emptiness, elbowing space between one thought and the next.
