May 23 – 25, 2016: New Names
The Newcomer’s Platform for new and newly arrived talent in Berlin will kick off the festival from May 23 – May 25 at Ballhaus Ost, HAU Hebbel am Ufer, Sophiensælen and Theaterdiscounter.
May 27 – 29, 2016: A Full Schedule on the Weekend
On the weekend of May 27 – May 29, Berlin will become the hotspot of the independent performing arts. Whether you take part in a guided tour or set of on your own: the festival invites audience members to well-known locations as well as to discover new locations unusual for theater and presents what the independent performing arts community of the theater metropolis Berlin has to offer during seventy-two jam-packed hours.

The Berlin Performing Arts Festival presents the work and artistic positions of the independent performing arts community in a shared festival with over 120 theater, music theater, performance and dance productions at more than 50 performance venues and event locations in Berlin.

Guided Tours Through the Performing Arts Festival: Members of Berlin’s independent performing arts community become guides during the festival who invite audience members to set off with them on a journey of discovery throughout the festival.
“Hiking Trails” through the Festival
We’ve blazed some leitmotifs through the schedule of programming. The “hiking trails” suggest theme-based daily itineraries and routes through the schedule of program that every audience member can follow on their own.

Tickets
Tickets can immediately be booked online. Visitors are invited to put together their own itinerary and set off on a journey of discovery throughout Berlin. Discounts are available if multiple tickets are purchased in advance.

Background and History
The goal of the Performing Arts Festival is to present the diversity of the independent performing arts in Berlin and to make them visible within a larger framework as a successor to the 100° Berlin Festival. Initiated by Ballhaus Ost, HAU Hebbel am Ufer, Sophiensælen and Theaterdiscounter and organized by LAFT Berlin, the festival’s schedule of programming has been organized by all of the participants.
