The starting point of the dance choreography of Kalaschnikowa reproduces the sound of the automatic rounds and the fusillade of flamenco heel and toe beats. The energies of perpetrators and victims, of violence and vulnerability are explored in an interplay of thematic and physically reactive points of contact. The weapon, a construct for destruction.

The Company el contrabando develops dance productions that are presented as part of national and international guest performances and festivals. The company devotes itself to experimental, contemporary flamenco and follows the question of how this art form, which is shaped by traditions and, in part, fraught with clichés and pathos, can be placed in new contexts and staged at a distance from its conventional styles and aesthetic obligations. Conglomerations of dance, sound and image grouped around a theme emerge as the result of a close collaboration between artists in the fields of dance, visual arts, composition and lighting design. – Productions are on tour in Europe, Africa and South America.

The theater has offered productions for children and adults since 1978. The desire to combine visual art such as painting or sculpture led to figure theater. We work in a multimedia manner in our productions: scenic material is developed from the intersection of spoken word theater, figure theater, object theater and material theater as well as film projections and overhead projections. In addition, the theater regularly goes on tour and appears in both national and international festivals.
