The 20th century became the century of the self. The self served both as material and reason for dance, the dance began to be owned by the self. The personal, the intimate, the creative authorship of the artist and the artist's individuality, which becomes a label, is embodied ideologically through the solo. In their authorship the 2 performers choreograph paradoxical alternatives to the self.
