Festival Outposts

The Performing Arts Festival is diverse and decentralized, which is why, alongside the festival center in aquarium, there are four additional outposts at various hotspots in the center on the border between other independent arts and neighborhood life in Berlin. They will provide information about the festival as well as tickets. In addition, each outpost is created, performed and filled with life by an artistic team or artist. This results in four different site-specific, participative or immersive art projects that receive the impulses of PAF and broadcast them out into the city.

Das Platzhaus (Prenzlauer Berg)

Artistic Host: Leisa Shelton/FRAGMENT31

Platzhaus is located both on the outskirts and right in the middle of Helmholtzplatz, a former public bathroom facility that has developed into a neighborly place within the neighborhood where people with low socio-economic potential can also experience social participation. This is a house whose contours were outlined in drawings from the last decade and whose architecture remains flexible in the sense of togetherness and discussion.

During the festival, the artist Leisa Shelton and three additional “Scribes” will visit numerous events and invite the visitors to brief conversations between events to write down their impressions, observations and special experiences.

Address: Helmholtzplatz, 10437 Berlin
Info Point: June 6 – 10, 12:00 - 6:00 pm
Tickets: June 6 –  9, 12:00 - 6:00 pm

Allmende (Tempelhofer Feld)

Artistic Host: Tobias Rausch

The community garden Allmende-Kontor on Tempelhofer Feld was founded over the course of pioneer projects on the former airfield through an initiative of 13 community garden activists, researchers and friends of urban gardening and urban agriculture.

For the festival outpost in Allmende Kontor, writer and director Tobias Rausch examines plants as the performative self-willed life partner of humanity – be it as weed, medicinal herb or salad.

PANKE is a creative multi-purpose space in Wedding. It is run by a collective of creative people. Its main aim is to promote experimental/fringe creativity in Berlin, as well as to offer an alternative meeting point for the up-and-coming creative scene of Wedding.

4 artists from the PANKE community are active in the festival outpost in PANKE: Nadja Buttendorf with a tutorial in which one learns another way to use the heat from a smartphone, Esben Holk with a lecture performance, Max Grau with the online performance [workingtitle] during which his regular streaming writing session takes place and Ioana Vreme Moser.

As a performance venue and (festival) producer, WERKSTATT DER KULTUREN has set itself the task of examining current (cultural and migration) policy developments and addressing them using a variety of forms of art, culture and action.

For the festival outpost at Werkstatt der Kulturen, Cindy Wegner is producing a piece of participative audio research. She creates exciting impulses from the outside, maintains a dialogue between music, theater and research and focuses on improvisation in the city, inspired by poet and literary theorist Fred Moten and his work In The Break.
