Spend a Day at the Festival Accompanied by an Artist from Berlin’s Independent Performing Arts Community

Members of the independent performing arts community have put together their very own festival day from the schedule of programming and invite audience members to join them. Please note: admission to the various performances is included in the ticket price of the tours. The travel between the performance venues will be conducted on public transportation. Public transportation tickets are not included in the price.

TOUR 3: Experience beyond language (in English)

With Summer Banks (independent theatermaker and translator)

The motifs and materials in the works on this tour range from graffiti to forest creatures to 15th century writings on death – and the techniques used to turn them into performance are just as diverse. This tour features works with limited or English-language texts, and is guided in English - no German-language knowledge required!

» Summer Banks

A native of the Californian desert, Summer Banks has been based in Berlin since 2008. She worked for EXBERLINER as their stage editor before returning to her studies at the Universität Potsdam, receiving her M.A. in Vergleichende Literatur- und Kunstwissenschaft (comparative literature and art) in 2016. She now works as an independent theater-maker and translator, in addition to running the Berlin English Improv Network and occasionally teaching German history through Disney songs with A Spoonful of Deutschland.

TATWERK | PERFORMATIVE FORSCHUNG is a production center and studio for the performing arts in Berlin. The artistic research focuses on physical theater, dance and performance with a particular focus on interdisciplinary projects.
TATWERK is a point of intersection for artists who choose the body as material and the research as a tool for their work. Our work consists of offering an artistic exchange platform for ideas, artistic practices and projects.
Our main interest is on multidisciplinary, political and poetic projects in the field of the performing arts. We are particularly interested in the research into thematic and aesthetic points of frictions between different artistics, social and scientific disciplines. The resulting schedule of programming consisting of classes, workshops and performance projects is completed by events and festivals where selected artists present their work in form of previews, work in progress or ready productions.
In addition, we offer support for issues relating to theater technology, production and PR.
TATWERK | PERFORMATIVE FORSCHUNG responds to the need of many artists for an open space and pursues long-term working relationships.
